Many wouldn't swallow Torah tales of giant scorpions -- until now. This gigantic fossilized invertebrate is one of many found lately. And if the ancient Israelites were protected from them..
Hi Arnie,
The Midrash says that the Children of Israel encountered giant scorpions in the wilderness, but they were protected from these scorpions by the clouds of glory.
Deut. 1:19. says, "And we journeyed from Horeb and went through all that great and fearful desert.." On this, Rashi cites the Sifrei and comments: The great and fearful desert [is termed fearful] because in it were serpents as [thick as] beams and scorpions as [big as] bows.
Now scientists have found the evidence of the existence of giant scorpions, of the size described in the Midrash. Once again, science is catching up to Torah. See the report here.
